U.S.A. and India take the win as the biggest casino cheaters worldwide
To begin... where did cheating actually stem from?
The winners, the losers, and well the cheaters… With the good inevitably comes the bad, and for casinos worldwide - cheaters make a small (or mass) fortune off finding new ways to swindle the house. And it's not just casinos that encounter cheats, all around the world, people are cheating on a wide variety of video games, lottery, and anywhere they can make money. Through walkthroughs, cheat codes, hacks, social engineering techniques, and other unauthorized software, individuals are continuously sourcing new innovations to cheat the system. Essentially anything you can win or lose - you can also cheat. Most people cheat in one way or another… Some are just more savvy with getting away with it than others. So, the question is: how exactly do people cheat? And where in the world has the most cheaters? To determine, The Game Day gathered data on the top 5-10 cheating search terms globally across different casino games to show which games have the most people looking for methods/ways to cheat. We additionally looked into the countries with the highest search volume for methods to cheat on games.

Based on monthly Google search volumes
The u.s. takes the crown as the biggest casino cheater globally
Our data has shown, out of all countries analyzed the U.S takes the crown as the biggest casino cheaters worldwide - ranking the highest for casino cheat search terms in 3 out of the 4 casino games analyzed, with India close behind. Across all analyzed countries, the U.S. ranked highest for poker cheats with an overall search volume of 9,040 for all poker cheat terms. Both blackjack and baccarat had fairly low search results across all countries. Still, of course the United States takes the win as the most likely blackjack and baccarat cheats. India takes the winning title as the biggest roulette cheats across all countries. A total search volume of 2,670, with 'roulette winning trick' being the most searched term.
Most people want to cheat on poker and baccarat
From our collected data based on Google and YouTube search volume, it's clear to see that there are huge volumes of people searching for ways in which they can cheat the casino system. While they may not become the next Tommy Glen Carmichael, Ida Summers, or Richard Marcus - it's interesting to see which casino games are sparking the most interest. We looked at Google Search Volume, across poker, roulette, blackjack, and baccarat - and, from this assembled data, poker ranked the highest in overall global search volume at a huge total of 26,530 searches per month!
The highest ranking phrases split between: 'cheat in poker' and 'poker cheat' at 9,990 global searches each. Interestingly, the terms individuals were most commonly searching for example 'cheat in poker' and 'poker cheat' were actually down on trend when compared to previous months. However the search term 'poker now cheat' (attributed to the online Poker Now app) saw a recent trend increase of 129%. This data suggests that while local casinos, like many industries, are still seeing reduced attendance post-pandemic, online poker platforms are growing.
On YouTube, the most commonly searched casino hack is also poker-related, with an overall monthly search volume of 26,280. 'Poker cheat' and 'cheat in poker' both ranked the highest for monthly searches. Although both terms reached 9,800 searches each, this was in fact, down on trend when compared to historical data. While both 'poker cheat online' and 'online poker cheating' saw a 51% rise - further evidence that online cheaters might be growing, abandoning their in-house tricks in favor of digital hacks.
Baccarat ranked second highest for search volume with an overall global monthly search of 6,970. 'Baccarat cheats' takes the lead with global monthly search volume of 260, next in line is 'baccarat cheating devices' with a global monthly search volume of 110 - this was 136% rise when compared to previous months.
The history of casino cheating
Now we've all seen Ocean's 11 enough times to confirm the house wins nine times out of ten. From collaborating with other cheats, marking or replacing cards, teaming up with dealers, creating counterfeit chips, past posing (more on this in a bit), edge sorting - there are numerous different ways that cheaters have (and still) cheat in casinos today. And many actually get away with it...
Tommy Glenn Carmichael, known as one of the most famous casino cheats in the world, rose to fame in the 1980's for cheating the Las Vegas slot machines. Carmichael used a magnetic device that he inserted into coin slots of the machines - allowing him to win much more frequently than he would have ordinarily.1 As slot machine technology developed so did Carmichael's redesigns - this allowed him to make large sums of money. Well, at least until he was sentenced for the second time in 2001. Interestingly, today he works with casinos to defeat potential cheaters.
Richard Marcus, known as the man that 'beat the casino', came up with a cheating move in 1992, known as a 'past posing'. This was a move in which he would wager low amounts of money, wait to see if he had won and then secretly swap out low denomination chips for higher-value ones, in order to win huge payouts. This cheat allowed him to deceit the house of over $5 million! And he got away with it.
