Pennsylvania became one of the first few states to offer an online legal lottery. This was possible after lawmakers passed a gambling expansion bill in 2017. Now, players can enjoy playing PA Lottery internet instant games online for a chance to win real cash prizes using just their computer or mobile device.

They can also purchase the following Draw Games online: Mega Millions®, Powerball®, Treasure Hunt and Cash4Life®. The Pennsylvania Lottery also offers apps for both iOS and Android. PA Lottery online players must be 18 and older, located within the geographical boundaries of the commonwealth to wager or make a purchase online.

The object of the internet instant games is to reveal prize hangouts numbers, letters, or symbols on the platform to win a prize. The cost of these games vary from $0.05 to $30 and can be played 24-hours a day, seven days a week.

As of this writing, the Pennsylvania Lottery offers 107 online games for players to enjoy. They include:

  • Gifts Galore
  • Polar Bear Bucks
  • Winning Tree
  • Marching Through the Snow
  • Extreme Green
  • Jungle Tumble Jackpots
  • Pennsylvania Keystone Cash
  • Lightning Bucks
  • 5X, 10X, 20X, 50X Blowout

WHERE DOES ONLINE LOTTERY MONEY GO?

The Pennsylvania Lottery remains the only state lottery to direct all proceeds to programs that benefit older residents. Since ticket sales began in 1972, it has contributed more than $32.6 billion to fund property tax and rent rebates, transportation, care services, prescription assistance, and local services including senior centers and meals. During Fiscal Year 2020-21, proceeds to benefit older Pennsylvanians topped more than $1 billion for the 10th consecutive year.

MULTI-STATE DRAW GAMES

MEGA MILLIONS ONLINE

Mega Millions® is available to lottery players in 45 states, including Pennsylvania. To play Mega Millions®, players select six numbers from two separate pools. The pools require players to select five numbers from 1 to 70 (white balls) and one other number from 1 to 25 (Gold Mega Ball). Players can choose their numbers or select the quick pick option for a randomized ticket. Since January 2020, Pennsylvania Lottery players have been able to purchase Mega Millions® tickets online.

The thing that makes Mega Millions® unique is that the jackpot starts at $40 million and grows until somebody wins. A ticket for Mega Millions® costs $2 but can be $3 if the player chooses to add the Megaplier®, which multiplies all non-jackpot prizes by two, three, four or five times.

The largest Mega Millions® jackpot to-date in Pennsylvania happened in July 2021, with an annuity value of $516 million. The winner was a group of people who formed a trust to claim the prize as a lump-sum payment. After taxes, the group of five took home more than $250 million. It was the third jackpot won in the state since the PA joined the game in 2010.

POWERBALL ONLINE

Powerball® was also added to the Pennsylvania Lottery’s online portfolio in January 2020. Each Powerball ticket costs $2, but players can purchase Power Play® for an additional $1. The Power Play® feature can multiply non-jackpot prizes by two, three, four, five or 10 times.

To play, pick five numbers between 1 and 69 and then select a Powerball® number from 1 to 26. Next, select the drawing you wish to participate in, and then sit back and wait for the numbers to be drawn.

Powerball announced Monday drawings on August 23, 2021. So now players may choose to play Mondays, Wednesdays, or Saturdays. Along with that change came the Double Play option. The PA Lottery is currently the only state to offer Powerball with the Double Play optional feature online.

Double Play is a new optional feature that, for an additional $1 per play, gives players another chance to win with their Powerball® numbers in a separate drawing with a top cash prize of $10 million.

The largest jackpot from Powerball® in Pennsylvania came back in March of 2018 with a $456.7 million annuity value. It was won by a single ticket sold in Lancaster County.

PENNSYLVANIA LOTTERY INTERNET INSTANT & ONLINE DRAW GAMES

Pennsylvania is one of 14 U.S. states to sell lottery products online. The Pennsylvania Lottery launched PA Lottery online in May 2018, featuring internet instant games for lottery fans to enjoy. As mentioned above, players can also purchase the following Draw Games online: Mega Millions®, Powerball®, Treasure Hunt, and Cash4Life®.

To play PA Lottery online games on a mobile device or tablet, players must install the PA Lottery Official App. Apple users can download the app from the Apple App Store. For Android users, visit palottery.com/android or text APP to 54187 to receive a special Android download link. The App is also available through the Google Play Store.

To promote responsible play, online players can set time limits, deposit limits, and spend limits to suit their budget and play style. Players may also take a cool-off break or self-exclude entirely for one year or five years.

These internet instant games are popular for several reasons, the first of which is their familiarity.

The process for purchasing a Draw Game online is simple.

As of this writing, the following Draw Games are available to play online in Pennsylvania. However, the PA Lottery plans to add more Draw Games online in the near future.

  • Cash 4 Life
  • Mega Millions
  • Powerball
  • Treasure Hunt

Players can review their ticket, scan it at a Lottery retailer or use the PA Lottery Official App to determine if it is a winner. Players may game rules, chances of winning and other information at palottery.com. To view a list of Fast Play games available for purchase, click here.

KENO

Keno is a fun, fast-paced game that gives players a chance to win $100,000 or more. Drawings are held every four minutes. Keno can be played at any PA Lottery retailer that sells Draw Games and can be watched live, in person, at select retailers.

Animations of past draws can be found by clicking the Most Recent Draw tab on palottery.com. Players can pick up a Keno playslip at their nearest PA Lottery retailer and play today!

To play Keno, all you have to do is pick up to 10 numbers from 1 to 80. Then, select the amount that you want to play for each drawing. PA Lottery has the range set for Keno from $1 to $20 per drawing.

Players can spend $1, $2, $3, $5, $10, or $20 per play. Prizes increase as the play amount increases, but the cost does not change based on how many numbers you select.

Every four minutes, the Lottery’s computers randomly generate 20 winning numbers. For example, matching one spot on a $1 bet returns $2.50 while matching 10 wins you $100,000.

XPRESS SPORTS

In 2018, the Pennsylvania Lottery rolled out its Xpress Sports games.

These currently include Derby Cash Horse Racing and Car Racing.

Drawn every four minutes, these are fast-paced games to simulate a player’s favorite sport! Players can make their selection using a playslip, then watch a big screen at a Lottery retailer to see an ultra-realistic depiction of the random drawing.

It’s like having a front row seat to enjoy all the action!
